So Nintendo reported their first slide in profits in six years, which is a scary thing no matter how many millions you are rolling in.

Nintendo has realized that they may be on the wrong path, and obviously if this path leads to further profit slides, there could be trouble.

They haven't recognized the iPhone as real competition yet, so the only conclusion they could have come to is that people are disappointed with the type of games they have been making. (Or maybe it's DS flash cards...)

Maybe this will lead to a shift towards the good old Nintendo? Somehow I'm still a bit optimistic.

I want a new DS Animal Crossing! I want a 2D Metroid for DS! I want a new F-Zero for DS that is as challenging as the Gamecube one! I don't care about Wii games at all!

Flash cards, and that everyone is soft modding their Wii's, downloading games and burning them because they aren't worth what they charge for them.

If the pirating is really burning into the sales, I'm perplexed as to why Nintendo doesn't hire some expert hack people and make the system more defensive on the next firmware update. Assuming they can do that.

I'm on board for a return to more games. 2D Metroid sounds fun, but we already have 3 AC games... if they make another they need to do some SERIOUS upgrading... and make it not rely quite as much on multi-player in getting the items you want, like GCN AC.
And it would be criminal for me not to say "Mother 3 and Earthbound are still waiting Nintendo..."

Probably cause you don't have to upgrade the wii firmware with the soft mod.

The only cure for piracy is a loyal fanbase. People that will buy everything you release without having to try it out or read a review. Nintendo used to have lots of that, but not so much any more. They've risked a lot by putting all their eggs in the "fickle consumer" basket.

No, what Nintendo really needs to do, is stop letting shit games flood their systems. The Wii shovelware situation is out of control, and the DS is getting just as bad.

People go where the games are. Sure, Wii has the highest install base, but it also has the lowest software attach rate. Selling to the casual market means they're gonna play Wii Bowling for the rest of their lives.

The PS3 and 360 have mod scenes too, and their numbers aren't hurting nearly as much. It might be a bit easier on the Wii, but even still, what do you do with your softmodded Wii? Put a bunch of emulators on it. They aren't losing game sales from that. They're losing sales because there's no goddamn games to buy.

What do I do with my soft modded wii?

I don't have any emulators on it but I do have 2 spindles of games burned to dvd. Although I play only 3 of them because even after paying only the cost of bandwidth and a blank dvd they still aren't worth it.

I'm just waiting for No More Heroes 2...

A Kirby game thats supposedly the long-in-hiatus GCN Kirby game that was moved to Wii is getting released in Japan this month or next month, so chances are thats one more for NA.
Aside from that, I want Metroid Other M mainly, but Sin and Punishment 2 is looking fun.
And then theres Charles Martinet saying he was called in to do voice in a new Mario game that isn't SMG 2 or NSMB Wii. (the latter looks quite fun).

I thought that Kirby game was canned cause it was crappy... Guess it might fit right in with Nintendo's other releases in that case.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mother 3 released on DS, in English. It's really not too late for that I think...

I wonder what the other Mario game is though. Maybe just a new Mario Party? They haven't released one of those in a while.
