Last year was a tough one for top five games but here I go:
1: Patapon 2 - One of few games i have put over 50 hours into this year
2: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - The other big one clocking in at 130
3: Brutal Legend
4: Blazblue
5: Rhythm Heaven
Honorable mentions: Naruto clash of the ninja revolution 3, Phantasy Star Zero, still playing TF2 and Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside story
Been a good year for portable gaming
Raptor Fun Fact #73 - The raptor's natural enemy is the gas-powered internal combustion off-road vehicle, which are made of evil
I don't think I'm terribly good at these sort of things, but for games:
5: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Its a bit more "primitive", but its a remake of a Famicom game, so thats to be expected. And while the game seems a little deadset on giving you (optional) things for failing miserably, its still good fun, and re-classing adds something neat.
4: Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. Greatly improved from Phantom Hourglass, namely with the central dungeon no longer having a timer and no more retreading needed.
3: New Super Mario Bros Wii. Multi-player is insane and fun, and single is good old Mario platforming thats akin to a hybrid of SMB3 and SMB4: Super Mario World.
2: Punchout. I knew Next Level were going to be able to nail the stereotypes after seeing the Mario Strikers games, and they also nailed the gameplay, especially with the vast amount of hidden little tricks you can use to take down boxers, while still making the game quite hard.
1: Nazi Zombies (in Call of Duty World at War). No, its technically not from 2009, but its when I first played it, and it still has lasting appeal. I'm big on well-executed alternative co-op modes (Sorry Spec Ops, you're just not that great), and this is one of the best.
Honorable mention goes to the XBLA ports of Banjo Kazooie and Tooie (especially the incorporation of Stop N Swop), and Dissidia Final Fantasy on PSP, for having a very fun (if grind-heavy) crossover game on PSP.
"Not even MacGyver can help Sony(much)"
I think everything I played in 2009 will be
eclipsed on January 26th.

I was wrong, NMH:DS was kind of a letdown.
