You can buy riotpoints to purchase new champions and skins for your characters

BUT

You also get influence points just from playing games and you can buy the same champions/skins etc for free.

I've been playing since closed beta, but I haven't been playing much the past couple months.

To clarify what Ryan said, the game is free to play, but there are two types of currency. Influence Points come from playing matches, and Riot Points cost real money. You can only buy the skins with Riot Points, and you can only buy glyphs with Influence Points, but everything else, including champions, can be bought with either.

I'm no hero. Never was, never will be. I'm just an old killer, hired to do some wet work.

They need more maps and to fix the matchmaking system. But I still like it.
