Sony says Wii owners will become PS3 owners. Wow, this might actually be true.

And here's why: "If you look back at previous lifecycles, like PS2 versus N64 [sic], we have lots of data that suggests that lots of people bought into N64 as their entry level gaming device, and were happy to upgrade to a more powerful machine later in the lifecycle when the price point was right for them."

So Wii owners will buy a PS3 when the price point is right for them... keep waiting Sony. Maybe the price point that is right for them will go up before the price point that is right for you comes down.

For that analogy, I wouldn't have used N64->PSX, I'd have used Atari->NES. That seems like a more accurate hardware cpacity and pricing comparison

The Wii needs content that users can graduate to after they want to take the wagglewheels off, otherwise people will be migrating to other console in the future.

The toughest cool-kid games on the Atari an image-conscious teens might buy were Missile Command and Yars' Revenge. Kinda geeky cyber sci-fi. The toughest cool-kid games on the NES were things like Punch-Out, Pro Wrestling, River City Ransom, Final Fight, plus it had a bad-ass cyber-glove, plus it had a gun. Rebellious teenagers would eat that shit up.

The Wii has MadWorld and No More Heroes as their approximations of cool-kid games. Sort of eccentric artsy-geek style games. Xbox and PS3 have things like Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Modern Warfare, Grand Theft Auto, Fallout, Burnout, UFC, Halo, BioShock... stuff that you could see the box being used as a coaster at a frat house.

It is kinda true that I passed on the N64 and instead got a Playstation. Super Mario 64 was cool, but as soon as I played Final Fantasy 7 and Castlevania: SOTN I knew there was no room for N64 in my gaming future at that point.

And looks like I've finally found a new DS game to get. (Trade in time for Dementium!) But HONESTLY Nintendo, just cause every other company uses dollar store fonts in their localizations doesn't mean you have to. Have a little pride... geez.
